Publiée dans le prestigieux journal Gut, le travail de doctorat de notre résident Roy Hajjar, Dre Carole Richard (chirurgienne colorectale au CHUM) et Dre Manuela Santos (chercheure au CRCHUM) ont permis de mettre en évidence le rôle de certaines souches bactériennes directement reliées aux fuites intestinales en chirurgie colorectale. Cette étude ouvre la porte au monde de microbiome en chirurgie colorectale et mènera dans un avenir proche à des essais cliniques.

Great news! Published in the prestigious journal Gut, the doctoral work of our resident Roy Hajjar, Dr. Carole Richard (colorectal surgeon at the CHUM) and Dr. Manuela Santos (researcher at the CRCHUM) have highlighted the role of certain bacterial strains directly related to anastomotic leaks in colorectal surgery. This study opens the door to the world of microbiome in colorectal surgery and will lead to clinical trials in the near future.
